I admire Michaela DePrince of the Dutch National Ballet because she has pushed through all of the struggles she has faced and become one of the most beautiful dancers in the world, and it inspires me everyday.

Get to Know Sarita Cavazos

Sarita Cavazos began training in ballet at age four with Ballet Repertory Theatre of New Mexico, and at age ten began dancing in the company’s ballets including The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Wizard of Oz, Swan Lake, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid.  At age 15, she joined the modern dance company Sparrow Dance Productions where she had the privilege of dancing in their productions such as Santa Fe Fashion Week. She joined New Mexico Ballet Company in 2016 where she had the privilege of performing in Natalie Harris’ The Nutcracker, Wizard of Oz, and Aladdin & The Magic Lamp.  She attended The Jillana School Summer Intensive for three years, Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensive in New York City for two years, and the Kansas City Ballet School Summer Intensive.  Sarita is currently a freshman at the University of New Mexico and will continue her studies next semester at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago.
