Virginia (Ginny) Wilmerding PhD danced professionally in New York City and is now a Research Professor at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where she teaches for both the Exercise Science and Dance Programs. She also teaches at the Public Academy for Performing Arts, a charter school in Albuquerque. Ginny is formerly the Chief Executive Officer of the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS). She has published a great deal of original research about the science of dance and has co-authored two books: Motor Learning and Control for Dance: Principles and Practices for Performers and Teachers and Dancer Wellness. Ginny has been affiliated with the New Mexico Ballet Company for almost 25 years and has served on its Board for more than a decade.
