Sheli Hinds Armstrong has over 30 years of experience in hospitality sales and marketing management with hotels, resorts and currently with Visit Albuquerque.
At the age of 22, she began her career at the infamous Marriott Camelback Inn (now JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort and Spa) in Scottsdale, Arizona, which was named one of three North American hotels that had maintained a AAA 5-Diamond rating since the award's inception in 1975.
Her career ramped into high gear, taking her to several of the country’s finest destination cities and world-class resorts. She enjoyed over a decade with Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Resort Company, where she was trusted with business for some of their top California luxury properties, including Laguna Niguel, San Francisco and Half Moon Bay.
Galas are among Sheli’s many talents. While with Restaurant Associates, Inc. in Los Angeles, she managed extravagant events for the Los Angeles Music Center, whose venues included the LA Philharmonic, LA Opera and Center Theatre Group. Sheli’s notable galas include the 1999 Academy Awards’ Governors Ball, Screen Actors Guild Awards and Entertainment Industry Foundation’s A Tribute to Style on Rodeo Drive.
Sheli has worked closely with celebrity chefs Wolfgang Puck, Piero Selvaggio, Patrick Healy and Michael Beglinger.
In 2001, she returned to her native New Mexico, to continue her expertise is hospitality Sales & Marketing for several high-end hotels, including Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort, Eldorado Hotel & Spa, and Inn and Spa at Loretto. She was also the Director of Operations for the acclaimed Geronimo Restaurant. There, she worked with Chef Eric DiStefano, who is also owner and chef of Coyote Café.
In 2007, Sheli was named Director of Events for Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic Farm, which was honored on the Foder’s 100 List of best international hotels.
A published hospitality and special event writer, Sheli specializes in developing marketing, promotional and publicity initiatives. Her expertise also includes extensive knowledge of hotel and resort operations analysis of restaurants, golf, spa development and renovations, fundraising and event planning.
Sheli also sits on the board of directors for Vintage Albuquerque and Nob Hill Main Street- an historic neighborhood preservation, revitalization and sustainability organization under the aegis of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She was also National President of Project Cuddle, a nationwide California-based non-profit organization dedicated to preventing baby abandonment.
